Boating Safety

In light of the recent tragedy on the Gulf of Mexico, we at Pelican Marine would like to remind everyone of how important boating safety is.

It has always been our recommendation that everyone who intends to be present on a boat take a safe boating course.  Even if you are not the primary pilot of the boat, should an emergency arise, you may need to know the "boating basics".  The CG Auxiliary regularly holds safe boating classes.  A list of  some of the local Auxiliary Flotillas can be found on our website at www.pelicanmarinecenter.com  under the community information link.

Be sure to always have all the necessary safety gear. life vests, flares, fire extinguisher, horn.  If you are not sure as to what is required, feel to stop by Pelican Marine Center and pick up a copy of the USCG publication of the Federal Requirements and Safety Tips for recreational boaters.
